| Comments: | Partially transcribed/adapted tag of this early Billy Joel fave for 5 voices. If you listen to the song, note how the feel-good 'ahhh-ha' riff is in the upper bass part before melody is given back to the Tenor2! Thought about making that optional while Tenor1's have the spotlight. Fair amount of doubling up and crossing over in this one, especially in the higher voices. Tried to reenact the instrumentals in the first half of the tag using dee-das and do-das. The 'dwee' note helps emphasize the flat of the 'dee' note psychologically, starting that chromatic pattern to the VI (C chord). Doesn't HAVE to be quite as fast as the song! Great suggestion would be to lengthen the pause in the middle before the resoluto words come in. |
